Boils Treatment

A boil is an inflamed, pus-filled, painful, lump on the skin caused by a bacterial infection. It usually forms around the hair follicle. The most common areas it occurs are armpits, buttocks, thighs, shoulder, neck & face.

Causes

The most common cause of boil is a bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Other types of bacteria also can cause a boil when they get into the hair follicle. Factors that make you more susceptible to bacterial infection are.
  • Low immune system
  • Diabetes
  • Poor nutrition
  • Close contact with the person who has an infection
  • Improper hygiene
  • History of having boils in the past
  • Other skin condition like eczema/psoriasis that allows bacteria to enter in the skin
